Why is it so hard to find a tattoo design?
question by pj890: why is it so hard to find a tattoo design?
so far i have found 2 decent websites (tattooartists.org & bmezine.com) but its still difficult to find what your looking for unless you want to spend ages flicking through thouands of pages.
anyone know any other good websites? i dont want to copy one i just want inspiration so i can design one myself

i know exactly how you feel, i want to get some music designs, but i cant draw, dont know anyone that can draw, and cant find anything i like...
i can only suggest going into your local parlour and talking to them, something i should do...
Lol, if you really wanted one, and not just to copy it, you’d have drawn one out by now. Facebook has some groups dedicated to tattoos, loads of photos on each one so get on there and have a look

LikeDislikeits good that you are creating yourself, but why not just get some paper and design you may surprise yourself

LikeDislikeWhy not go into the tattoo studio give them ideas of what u like and dislike use their books as guidelines and get them to design one for you thats what i did, doesnt cost anymore them designing something. As to websites theres absolutely loads on tattoos.

LikeDislikeGo to a tattoo shop. They have many hundreds of designs. Could certainly get some great ideas from that. Just look around, even kids coloring books have some great ideas.

LikeDislikei personally think tattoos are a personal thing. i would say design one yourself or ask a friend, also tattooist’s will have a good idea of what you can do and put a niced piece together for you..
some tattoo artists like your work its possible they may purchase it from you or do your tattoo for free to have the work on there books.. try to stay away fom website tattoo’s as they may look nice on one person but not generally on you ..

LikeDislikei dunno it’s just better to DIY from Ato Z and hand it to the tattooist so he can correct it.. or just have him desig it all. it’s his job you know.

LikeDislikeThis is what tattoo artists are for. Find one with talent and just tell them the general idea or concept you want. They will draw it up for you and change it to your liking. I don’t understand why people think they have to draw it up themselves or find someone else to do it. I always just tell my artist ‘this is what I want’ and he does it up, if I don’t like a part of it then he revises it. But you need to find someone who has the style and skills you are looking for.

LikeDislikethe best place to go is to your tattoo artist. im talking from experience. i would look night after night for a tattoo design and never find it …then it hit me i don’t want what other people have i want my own thing. so i said im going to find a couple of pics with what size and color i would want and what design it should resemble…then told him to come up with something…best idea i ever came up with. you won’t ever know your final design until you go to your artist.
by the way i too wanted inspiration…then i realized it’s not in those sites…it’s something i would have to think up myself. so i came up with a dragon and something someone i grew up with had and combined them. he drew it up. no1 but me has this tattoo. its really cool. also the size, location, and color has meaning to it. i hope i gave you ideas of how to look for what you are searching for.

LikeDislikethe best thing i’ve done so far is to google all elements of my idea and take it to the artist, even if its a doodle, the more of an idea they have the better they can help you

LikeDislikebest site ever is tattoo johnny .com .took ages but a lovely choice of styles and artists, and you can download a copy and outline for a few dollars on your credit card! i had a dragon winged heart in the end!
if that doesnt work, draw your own and go to a good tattooist..

LikeDislikeI gave up looking at tattoo sites and starting looking at real images on google and yahoo, that’s how I stumbled across the website of the artist that I love, she does fairy,mermaid and Gothic fantasy type stuff so I had a tattoo done based on one of her pictures. People say draw one yourself, but really i am such a crap artist that I would never ever take a picture drawn by me in to a shop, they would think a 2 year old had done it.

Or rate my tattoo – stick that in google and it should give you the website. That is a massive collection of people’s actual tattoos rather than just drawings.
