Anyone got a good tattoo design idea for my kids’ names on my shoulder?
question by ferdelance: anyone got a good tattoo design idea for my kids' names on my shoulder?
although i've always wanted to get inked i've never really had a convincing enough reason, however i'd now like the names of my 2 sons on my shoulder.
i want to incorporate them into a design but am short of ideas.
something not corny but that represents growth, strength, spirit etc. i was thinking maybe a tree or plant or maybe some sort of seed (acorn maybe).
however it needs to be scalable in case i have more kids.
any ideas? thanks folks

Or sperm, perhaps?

LikeDislikeI think butterflies would be nice as it represents them growing and finding their own feet, also you can easily add more.
Like them just flying around and maybe the name could go on the body bit.

LikeDislikeawwwee thats really sweeet. uhhm dont make it huge or big. make it pretty small. your kids wont care if its not HUGE. make it small because of job interviews and other stuff where they dont except tattoos. just make sure its small. maybe if you religous do their name in a cool nice font with a cross at the end or beginning. or put both of their names in a cross. hope i helped! make me best answer!

LikeDislikedoves, angels, pic of fave food/band/pet. theres loads to choose from, also if you do these you could have them slightly different sizes the biggest for your eldest and smallest for your youngest.
EDIT: i like vicky t’s idea about cherubs with the sashes around

LikeDislikeIn my opinion, any type of flower.
you can have the artist draw the flower, say… a daisy growing out of a dirt pile. Have two petals from the daisy on the ‘Ground’ with your sons name in one petal each, and that way, if you have more sons, you can get more petals, no matter if the artists change, it will not affect the look of the tattoo :]

LikeDislikeA dream catcher. Your boys names would take the place of feathers.

LikeDislikeIf you fancied going pretty big with it, why not get a tree like you said, going up the side of your back, with the branches coming out over your shoulders, and then you can put the names coming off the branches somehow, then if you have anymore children, you can just add to the branches that are already there.
Write down all of the ideas you come up with and take them to the artist you want to do it, explain your ideas, and see if they can draw something up for you. That’s what I do when I’m stuck, and my artist has nevr let me down yet!!
Good luck!
